Fei & Sylvia’s Beautiful Fusion Wedding at Preston Hall – A Joyful October Celebration
By Kris Soul Photography – Wedding Photographer in Edinburgh
Fei and Sylvia’s wedding at the breathtaking Preston Hall was a celebration full of culture, laughter, emotion, and unforgettable moments. This lovely couple travelled up from London to get married in Scotland, bringing together both traditional Chinese customs and a British legal ceremony in one perfect October day.
As an Edinburgh wedding photographer for over 16 years, I’ve had the privilege of capturing weddings from many cultures and nationalities. Days like this—where traditions blend so naturally—are always a joy to photograph.
A Morning Filled With Chinese Traditions
The day began with lively Chinese wedding games, where Fei and his groomsmen had to prove their dedication and humour before he could see his bride. These challenges always create the best candid moments—full of smiles, laughter, and playful energy.
After the fun came the deeply meaningful Chinese tea ceremony, honouring parents and elders. This intimate moment was filled with emotion, respect, and family connection, and it was a privilege to document every sincere expression.
Even the Dog Had a Role to Play
One of the sweetest moments of the day was when Sylvia’s dog walked down the aisle with her and the father of the bride. It was personal, heartfelt, and brought huge smiles to everyone watching. Pets are family too—and they make wedding photos even more special.
A Stunning British Ceremony in the Walled Garden Conservatory
The couple’s official marriage took place in the beautiful walled garden conservatory at Preston Hall, one of the venue’s most magical spaces. With natural light pouring through the glass and October colours glowing all around, it created a romantic atmosphere perfect for a British legal ceremony.
As a photographer who specialises in natural, documentary-style wedding photography, I couldn’t have asked for a more stunning setting.
Golden October Light & Relaxed Couple Portraits
After the ceremony, we explored the grounds of Preston Hall for relaxed couple portraits. October light in Scotland can be incredibly soft and cinematic, and Fei and Sylvia were glowing with happiness—easy, joyful, and completely natural in front of the camera. Their smiles tell the whole story.
