Louise & Gordon’s Wedding at Queen Charlotte Rooms, Edinburgh
Louise and Gordon’s wedding at the Queen Charlotte Rooms in Edinburgh was a fantastic day filled with family, laughter, beautiful moments and plenty of Scottish character. As a local Edinburgh wedding photographer, I was delighted to be there to capture their special day, from the ceremony and family photographs to the celebrations, first dance and some rather dramatic Scottish weather!
It was a wonderful family wedding, with two lovely flower girls adding even more charm to the day. Their excitement and smiles were a big part of the atmosphere and made for some beautiful natural photographs.
Wedding Ceremony at Queen Charlotte Rooms
The day began with the wedding ceremony at the Queen Charlotte Rooms, a lovely Edinburgh wedding venue with a relaxed atmosphere that worked perfectly for Louise and Gordon's celebration.
The ceremony was full of emotion, smiles and happy family moments. After the ceremony, we took some time for photographs before heading out into Edinburgh for the couple's photo session.
Wedding Photography on Calton Hill, Edinburgh
One of the highlights of the day was our visit to Calton Hill in Edinburgh for wedding photographs. Calton Hill is one of my favourite locations for wedding photography in Edinburgh, with fantastic views across the city and plenty of opportunities for both natural and more traditional wedding photographs.
However, Scotland decided to give us a very quick reminder of what Scottish weather can be like!
Suddenly, a strong wind appeared, followed by heavy rain. The weather changed within moments, with the wind catching the bride's veil and dress and even making Gordon's kilt and other details fly around. It was certainly challenging, but we didn't give up.
We managed to capture a few fun and dramatic photographs in the middle of the storm. Sometimes these unexpected moments create some of the most memorable wedding photographs because they show the real story of the day.
More Wedding Photos at Leith Links
After the wedding meal, the weather had thankfully improved considerably. The wind and rain had passed, leaving us with much calmer conditions, so we headed to Leith Links for another wedding photography session.
The relaxed weather allowed us to take more natural photographs of Louise and Gordon without having to battle the elements. It was a lovely opportunity to slow down, enjoy some time together and capture the couple in a more relaxed setting.
As a wedding photographer in Edinburgh, I always try to keep the photography relaxed and unobtrusive, allowing couples to enjoy their wedding day rather than spending hours posing for photographs.
A Fantastic Family Wedding
The rest of the day was filled with great food, family celebrations and plenty of happy memories. The wedding cake looked amazing and was a real highlight of the evening.
The atmosphere continued throughout the reception, leading up to a fantastic first dance. It was a brilliant way to begin the evening celebrations, with family and friends joining Louise and Gordon on the dance floor.
