Relaxed, emotional, full of laughter, and surrounded by stunning Scottish views, their special day at DoubleTree by Hilton Edinburgh - Queensferry Crossing was an absolute joy to photograph and film.
The weather forecast leading up to the wedding promised heavy wind and storms all day long. Thankfully, Scotland surprised us in the best possible way. Instead of rain and chaos, we were treated to a dry day with calm moments, soft light, and beautiful conditions for photography and videography.
As Edinburgh wedding photographers and videographers, we always say that the weather doesn’t make the wedding — the people do. But having those incredible views across the water definitely made this day even more magical.
Stunning Wedding Venue with Incredible Views
The DoubleTree by Hilton Edinburgh - Queensferry Crossing is one of the most beautiful modern wedding venues near Edinburgh. With panoramic views of the famous bridges and the Firth of Forth, it creates the perfect backdrop for relaxed and natural wedding photography.
From the morning preparations right through to the evening celebrations, the atmosphere throughout the day was calm, fun, and full of genuine emotion. Calum and Kaitlyn wanted their wedding to feel natural and enjoyable, and that’s exactly how the day unfolded.
Relaxed Couple Portraits at the Harbour
After the ceremony and family photographs, Kris took the newlyweds down to the nearby harbour for some relaxed couple portraits with the iconic bridges in the background.
This location is perfect for natural wedding photography in Edinburgh. The combination of the waterfront, dramatic Scottish scenery, and the famous Queensferry Crossing creates timeless images without needing anything overly posed.
Calum and Kaitlyn were amazing together — completely comfortable, smiling, laughing, and simply enjoying a quiet moment together away from the guests. Those are always the best moments to capture.

A Brilliant Surprise During the Wedding Reception
One of the biggest highlights of the day came during the reception meal when the bride and groom received an unforgettable surprise from their parents.
Secret singing waiters suddenly appeared and completely transformed the room. What started as a normal dinner service quickly turned into singing, dancing, laughter, and a packed dance floor. Nobody expected it, which made the reactions even better.
The energy in the room changed instantly, and it created some incredible candid moments for both photography and wedding film coverage.
