Val & Sam’s Beautiful Edinburgh Wedding | St. John’s Episcopal Church & Ghillie Dhu

There’s something timeless about a wedding in Edinburgh, and Val & Sam’s day was the perfect celebration of love, culture, and the beauty of Scotland’s capital. This wonderful French and British couple chose the city as the backdrop for their wedding, blending romance and tradition in a way that felt both effortless and unforgettable.

A Ceremony at St. John’s Episcopal Church

The day began at the stunning St. John’s Episcopal Church in Edinburgh, an iconic venue with striking architecture and an intimate, welcoming atmosphere. Val looked radiant in her elegant gown, while Sam’s nerves turned to smiles the moment he saw her walking down the aisle. Their ceremony was heartfelt and emotional, with every word and glance full of love and promise.

Romantic Portraits in Princes Street Gardens

After the ceremony, we took some time to capture relaxed portraits in Princes Street Gardens. This beautiful park, nestled in the heart of the city, gave us the most stunning backdrops — the Ross Fountain sparkling in the sunlight and Edinburgh Castle towering proudly above. The combination of soft greenery, historic stone, and the couple’s natural chemistry made for photographs that felt both timeless and romantic.

Val & Sam were a dream to photograph — relaxed, joyful, and completely at ease with one another. Their connection shone through every image, proving that the best photographs are always the most natural.

Reception at Ghillie Dhu Edinburgh

The celebrations continued at the Ghillie Dhu, one of Edinburgh’s most atmospheric venues. With its dramatic vaulted ceilings, candlelit charm, and lively atmosphere, it was the perfect place for family and friends from both sides of the Channel to come together. French warmth and British humour filled the room, blending cultures seamlessly in speeches, laughter, and a packed dance floor.

A Love Story Framed by Edinburgh

From the sacred beauty of St. John’s Episcopal Church, to the romantic strolls through Princes Street Gardens, and the vibrant reception at Ghillie Dhu, Val & Sam’s wedding was a true reflection of their story — a perfect mix of elegance, fun, and love.

As a wedding photographer in Edinburgh, it was an honour to capture their day. With natural, relaxed images against some of the city’s most iconic landmarks, their photographs tell the story of not just a wedding, but of two people beginning a new chapter together.

If you’re planning your wedding in Edinburgh — whether at St. John’s Episcopal Church, Ghillie Dhu, or among the stunning gardens and views of Edinburgh Castle — and you’d love relaxed, natural photography that captures every emotion, I’d love to hear from you.
